50th Birthday Party Ideas and Decorations?

I’m planning a 50th Birthday Party for my mum in January.
I’ve booked the village hall and expecting around 50 people.
The idea is ‘memory lane’, so there will be photos of my mum throughout her life.
My cousin is going to be DJing, and I thought that as he plays songs from each decade, pictures of her appear on a projector, corresponding to each year.
I’d really like some suggestions on decorations etc.
Me and my dad are planning to have the lights off, and just surround the place with candles, and white christmas lights – making it really magical.
We’re going to have a finger buffet – already booked caterers – with tables + chairs, and a dance area.
The party will last from 7-12.
Any other suggestions for decorations or other entertainment? Five hours is a long time!
